The influencer
Fabricio Oliveira de Andrade has gained a reputation as a blogger and cartoonist. At Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions, he uses his talents to market our portfolio.
I grew up on Guarujá, an island off the coast of Brazil. My father still lives there, but I moved to a city near São Paulo when I was 20. After high school, I did two technical associate degrees in telecommunication and instrumentation. Working at Emerson (my second job), I was on the road a lot – calibrating, commissioning, installing, troubleshooting and so on. Nevertheless, I did further studies in business management. In 2013, I got a job as product manager at Endress+Hauser Brazil. Some years on, I got my MBA in Marketing & Digital Business. Already as a child, comics and animation captivated me. When watching Japanese anime, I would often pause the video, put a sheet of translucent paper over the screen and trace the images. Imitation is the best way to develop your talent! I soon realized that my graphic skills and creativity could also be applied to my job. I created many technical presentations and wrote articles that combined my technical knowledge and creative skills.
To Berlin
In 2016 I got the chance to move to the newly founded Endress+ Hauser Digital Lab – Visaya Solutions in Berlin. There was a go-ahead spirit, although at the beginning we didn’t even have an office address. I helped to build Visaya’s website and tried out many new ideas. In three years, I wrote more than 750 articles and a digital book, bringing a lot of traffic to the website! We worked day and night and learned an enormous amount from each other. Today, Visaya has settled down and recently entered a joint venture with Automation24. Back then was also the time when I launched my own website, Automação & Cartoons, a mix of blog posts, comics and illustrations focused on teaching automation (in Portuguese). I continue to do it without any pressure, and I don’t earn any money. There are currently around 2,000 visitors daily. I think people sense my passion, and they are happy when their questions are answered without a brand behind the reply.
Fabricio’s world
My dream destination Anime, manga and Japanese culture have fascinated me since childhood. I want to check out Tokyo one day.
My team and me Within our small team, we create all the content ourselves. Our combined forces have solved every task so far!
My favorite object A blank sheet of paper – is there any better way to get creative?
My favorite place Since Covid, I’ve been working from home a lot. I have a great setup there, but I do look forward to our new offices!
To Basel
I’m also active in the global community as an independent artist. I’ve published digital comic books, where I do a playful take on automation topics. Three years ago, I moved to Switzerland. To reach a wider audience, I created the comic book ‘One Night in Basel’. I put my tablet aside and drew in the traditional way with ink and paper. To save time, I got other artists to help me with speech bubbles and coloring. If you want to realize the full potential, you need to expand your repertoire. So I took several courses on illustration, sequential art (comics), watercolor, animation, digital marketing, advertising and storytelling techniques. I have always dreamed of studying at Quanta Academy of Arts in São Paulo but could not afford it before. Now I could fulfill this dream and signed up to an online comics course. The downside was that my seminars often didn’t start until midnight due to the time difference – but I made it work.
To Reinach
Music is also important to me. I was a drummer in the local church band when I was young, just like my uncle. Later, I played in the Endress+ Hauser band in Brazil. And recently, I attended my first rehearsal with the band in Reinach. After a five-year break, it took me a few songs to get the rhythm back in my arms and legs. Today, I’m a digital marketing manager at Endress+Hauser Digital Solutions. I still create content for Netilion while also evolving into advertising and data analytics. We constantly review our efforts and try to use our budget as efficiently as possible. In Berlin, I learned that you just have to try stuff out – maybe the first attempt goes wrong, but the second or third time you’ve got it. That’s how we gain new experiences every day, grow our knowledge and position ourselves optimally in a rapidly changing world.
